SENDCO & Safeguarding

Meet our SENDCO Coordinator!

“Hi, I am Sammy the Special educational needs and disabilities co ordinator at Coton Park Day Nursery.

My role is a role that ensures the best possible outcomes are achieved for children with disabilities and attentional needs. I will work closely with the children, parents and outside agencies to assist the children to reach their full potential.

When a child begins at the setting the I will support identification of any possible additional needs. If a need is identified I will meet with parents to discuss the options and the referral process if needed. These referrals consists of observations and factual developmental information.

Our setting has a SEN policy and I makes sure this is always followed by all other staff members. We follows the "SEND code of practice', which is a statutory guidance. Targets and next steps are put into place.

I will also work with all children across the setting as some may need extra guidance and support especially upon settling in.

I also support and can make referrals to Speech and Language and support and children who have english as an additional language.”

Safeguarding

'In this setting we do not tolerate any abuse towards children and one of our main priorities is to safeguard them'.

We take safeguarding within the setting seriously and have policies and procedures in places to protect everyone including parents and staff. Designated safeguarding leads within the setting are Carly and Lucy. All staff have safeguarding regularly updated.

If we become aware of any safeguarding issues including disclosures from children we will follow the esclation process set out by the warwickshire safeguarding board.

Within Warwickshire we follow a system that enables us to log all concerns onto a 'Green Form'. Depending on the information we will either discuss this with parents or make a referral to the Multi agency hub.

We work lot's on teaching the children how to keep themselves safe too. We follow guidance from the NSPCC and impliment lots of activities to support this both in settling and at home.

All social media permissions are on the children's registration forms.
